Lean Meat & Vegetables

I looked through a number of the new diet books at the local bookstore the other day.  Though they all had their own twist on the subject, they all essentially recommended the same thing: lean meat and green non-starchy vegetables.

So really there’s no need for anyone to buy a diet book anymore!  Almost all of these plans tell you to eat the same thing, for better or for worse.  The meals consist of lean meat, green vegetables, and some combination of oils/nuts.

Of course, as alluded to over the last few posts, this will only get a person around 1,000 calories per day.  So the result that a person will lose weight, at least in the short term, is not surprising.  What’s missing from these books is the potential long-term negative metabolic effects.
